Average pressure in my back tires tonight was 27.5, which is just about exactly where I want them.
Unfortunately one tire was 45, the other 10. Whoops. Got a leak somewhere, and I wish my mechanics would stop over inflating my tires.
Driving at 70mph on a 10psi tire (I’d noticed it was low, but had no idea it was that low), oof. I’ll try not to do that again.
Anyway, no shop today. S hop tomorrow. Always a shop tomorrow.

I drove a month with an improperly tightened wheel that ended up ruining a wheel hub and several lug nuts; I know how you feel, but this was worse. I am always surprised by just how under inflated most of my friend’s tires are. I sometimes put air in them for them while they are over.

I was driving down the interstate one day and noticed a car with NC plates (so at least 8 hours from home, unless it was a rental) driving down the interstate with a wobbly wheel. Took me a while (and a few miles out of my way) to get her attention. Hope she got it looked at quickly.
Wheels/tires are scary, scary things when something’s awry.

Especially when you realize how easily a catastrophic issue could be fixed. It is a good thing automatic tire pressure guages are required.

Mostly commenting to thank you for reminding me to get back to my Babylon 5 rewatch. But yes, tire stories - local tire guy neither overtightens nor overinflates, but when two tires were replaced, some point in a wheel/tire combo began leaking . Either pinhole in the wheel or imperfect bead seat or something , leading to a slow, slow leak which has caught me out at least once with “oh shit, that really is low”.

Yeah, I’ve accidentally done the highway on an extremely flat tire thing (more than once I think).
Honestly while TPMS has a whole bunch of flaws, I think having realtime tire pressure monitoring is a good idea.

I feel that without TPMS being a thing most people would just never add air into their tires. But then they’d also be super surprised when their ride quality is crap and a tire gets shredded. I know people that I’m pretty sure have never actually put air into a tire themselves and have relied on dealers and/or tire shops to do it.

Averages are fun. A person with 2 arms and two legs has an above average number of limbs.
